The property closing process, which in different parts of the country is also known as “Settlement” or “Close of Escrow,” is increasingly computerized and automated. Sometimes, the Buyers and Sellers do not need to attend the Closing in person. They can sign the paperwork and send to the closing agent by email or overnight delivery. Property closings bring together a variety of parties who are part of the transaction. Closing is a brief process in which all of the necessary paperwork needed to complete the transaction is signed. Closing is typically held in an Title Company or Attorney office setting, sometimes with both the Buyer and Seller at the same table, sometimes with each party completing their papers separately.
Whatever the case, the result is that title to the property is transferred from the Seller to the Buyer. The Buyer receives the keys, and the Seller receives payment for the home.
